Fantastic plastic substitute
Written by Karen Kattan
If you’ve been keeping up with health news, you’ve probably heard about Bisphenol A (BPA), a compound found in various plastics like those used to make many water bottles. Studies have shown that BPA exposure has been linked to a wide variety of illnesses such as breast cancer, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. When you drink from a water bottle that has BPA, it can leech into the water you drink and, therefore, you. That’s why I started using Klean Kanteen water bottles. Made from stainless steel, they’re dishwasher safe and can be hand washed easily. Most importantly, they’re BPA-free and can be reused, which also helps out the environment. You can choose from a variety of colors and styles to fit your various needs, whether you’re taking the bottle to the gym or out on town. Start drinking to a healthier you!
Tanya’s tip: While you’re at it, be careful of the plastic containers you use to store and reheat leftovers — they can contain BPA, too. Avoid putting them in the dishwasher or heating them in the microwave, which can release BPA into your food. Switch over to glass containers like Pyrex.
