Our new favorite Greek yogurt!
Written by Tanya Zuckerbrot
I start most mornings with a Greek yogurt mixed with Fiber One and berries, so you can only imagine my excitement when I was flying to Greece. I was about to eat the real deal! While touring the Greek Islands on vacation, I had a chance to indulge in all the delicacies Greece has to offer. And the best part — the number on the scale didn’t go up. Greek cuisine is inherently healthy, incorporating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seafood, and heart-healthy fats. But even though I feasted on shrimp bigger than my hand, sampled homemade jams flavored with fig or oregano, and snacked on packaged olives sold right next to the potato chips, enjoying my daily Greek yogurt while staring at the ocean was my favorite part by far.
Now that I’m back in the States, I find myself longing for my carefree, delicious days in Greece. Luckily, I’ve found the perfect antidote to my withdrawal: Greek God’s yogurt. Just one bite and I’m transported back to the beaches of Mykonos indulging in my morning breakfast.
Greek God’s non-fat plain yogurt is significantly thicker than yogurts commonly found in the U.S. It has the delicious creamy taste I crave without the extra fat. And, of course, it also has a balance of live and active cultures, which a number of scientific studies have shown promote digestive health and amp up your immune system. Wait, one other thing: One carton also contains a quarter of your daily calcium needs!
Get creative and try the yogurt in a dip, sauce, salad dressing, or a smoothie. Otherwise, just eat it for breakfast and let your taste buds take you to the golden sand and crystal waters of Greece.
