Just Fruit bars: Tasting is believing!
Written by Rachel Berman
Fruit Roll-Ups were one of my favorite snacks when I was a kid. I would wrap them around my finger and chew until my tongue turned red! They’re still around, and though they’re low-calorie, they’re just fruit flavored. They don’t have much nutrition and they certainly don’t satisfy hunger. That’s why I’m obsessed with Just Fruit Bars made by Gorge Delights, or grown up Fruit Roll-Ups as I like to call them.Just Fruit Bars are true to their name: They’re made from fruit grown in the Pacific Northwest and contain only fruit purees and concentrates — nothing else! If you’re allergic to wheat, dairy, nuts, or gluten, you don’t have to worry about analyzing the label as you do with other bars, just rip it open and eat. For a quick source of energy, grab their smaller size (25 grams), which is equivalent to one serving of fruit and has 90 calories. The larger size (40 grams) provides two servings of fruit for 150 calories. True, some smoothies pack in more fruit servings, but they need to be refrigerated — and the fiber is usually lost in the smoothie-making process. Conveniently, you can throw a Just Fruit bar in your bag and get up to 5 grams of fiber anytime, not to mention they contain vitamin C and potassium, too. When I’m snacking on these chewy and delicious bars, I don’t even miss yesteryear’s after-school snack.
