A lollipop that’s kid-tested, diet-approved
Written by Barbie Broschart
Being an aunt is one of the greatest joys I have. Being an aunt and a dietitian though, isn’t always so easy. My nephews (like most kids) love sweets. They don’t get them very often because my sister, a well-informed mommy, doesn’t keep them in the house. So when I visit, I like bringing sweet treats that spoil them rotten — not their teeth. Enter the YummyEarth lollipops. While typical lollipops are pure sugar, filled with artificial coloring and flavorings, YummyEarth lollipops are free of artificial colors, flavorings, and high fructose corn syrup. Plus they contain only organic ingredients, and are just as delicious as their less healthy counterparts.
YummyEarth is an organic candy company created by new dads who loved lollipops, but wanted to provide their kids with treats made of ingredients they’d be proud to cook with at home. The lollipops come in 21 mouth-watering flavors (my nephews absolutely love the RazzMatazz Berry and the Strawberry Smash) that are USDA and EU certified organic, kosher, gluten-free, peanut, tree-nut, and corn-syrup free. Try the ones with vitamin C for an extra antioxidant kick.
Besides lollipops, YummyEarth candy produces organic gummies and drops you can find at most grocery, vitamin, and specialty stores, as well as Toys ‘R Us and Babies ‘R Us. Since I’m a dietitian, I feel obligated to remind you that organic candy is still candy and should be eaten sparingly, but at least you can feel better about sharing something made with all-natural ingredients. And at just 23 calories and 6 grams of sugar in each pop, no guilt here!
